Why Avon

Many people wonder why would you want to sell Avon and I have heard many reasons. In order to be successful that is the most important thing you need to figure out. We call it the all important "Why".  Some people's why are: money, Trips, companionship, to get them out of the house, the ability to stay home with the kids to home school them.
Avon has been around for 129 years and counting and 99% of all people knows who Avon is. We are the largest corporate sponsor of empowering women by things like breast cancer awareness, speak out against domestic violence and reforestation.
People will tell you oh no its an MLM or its a pyramid scheme, don't do it. People say that because they don't understand what an MLM is. They feel that the only people that make any money are the ones on the top and the beginning people make none. That isn't true. Avon calls it you do you get.  If you work and work hard you will make money. You will earn trips and incentives. You will earn freedom.

Groups and friends to grow your business

It has taken me a long time to figure out which groups are best to help me grow my business because there are so many of them.  There are different types that  help me with different things here is the list of either who's groups or what types of groups to join.

1. Successful Representative owned groups

      2. Local Groups types- make sure  you check local towns besides your own
     
           Job search groups
           Event groups
           Swip-swap groups
           Yard Sale groups
            Meet-up groups
            SAHM groups
            If you can't find one of these types of groups start your own.

             Regional Group

So you have signed up, now what?

So you have signed up and your new leader has left, what do you do now?
1. If you haven't finished your invitation list of all the people you know then by all means finish that. It is one of the single most things you will do.
2. Figure out why you have joined Avon and started your own business; Is it to make some money, get out of the house and make some friends, or just maybe you couldn't find a representative. Now make some many goals to get to that main one in case you come across some hard times.
3. Go to youravon.com and register where it says : not registered. You will need  your account number, your district number and the last four numbers of your social security number.  Make sure you follow through the whole process and you will get to choose your webstore name. Make sure its easy to remember as you will want everyone you spread that information to to remember it. Mine is www.youravon.com/theavonlady0. I have branded myself in such a way they think of me when they think of Avon.
Now once you have completed that then you need to go into your facebook page and list Avon as your employment. This lets potential customers know what you do and it also allows admins of different FB groups know so you can be added. Do I have what it takes to be an Avon Lady?

     I have heard that question many times but not necessarily in those words. I have been told, I'm to shy, to old, to young, to new to the neighborhood and so many other type statements. What everyone is expressing is their own insecurities of their ability to do the job. I remember as a young child riding in my little red wagon while my Mom pulled my sister and I around as she delivered her orders. You see my Mom was an Avon Lady. I don't remember how well she did but I do remember we had fun. Mom had a territory that we went door to door talking to people and for me the social butterfly it was great.
     Fast forward many years and I decided to become a Representative. I did well. I'm not pretty or skinny or young but I did awesome. Like I said, I have always been the social butterfly. I could talk to anyone. Then it happened. I had two strokes back to back. And I lost so much. I couldn't talk to people without, as I believed, people laughing at me. I hid behind my husband as I talked to my customers. Many I had had for two years. I would go out to deliver and my math was always wrong. Finally my husband made me quit to avoid having people cheat me anymore than they had.
     Now fast forward to Oct. 3rd 2009. After long talks with my husband we decided I was well enough to at least try running an Avon business again. Now I can be painfully shy at times, I don't handle pressure sometimes, I have high anxiety, and many other things. Some days I find it very hard to get off the couch and walk out that door to go to work.  I have broken my neck and had surgery on both feet so there are times my feet hurt so bad I don't want to get up and walk or I have shooting pains from my neck. I have learned there are many thing that could keep me from doing what I do. I could think I'm to short, to fat, disabled, not pretty or model built.
     As you can see I could wonder sometimes if I have what it takes to be an Avon Representative and sit home and become a hermit. But, I push myself to work on improving myself and going out and work my business. I'm not only an Avon Lady, I'm also a National leader who reaches out to people who want to do what I do. I feel all my insecurities helps me to help my Representatives or helps me to reach those who just aren't sure if the can. I love my job! Somedays it don't pay to get out of bed.

Have you ever had one of those days? I went to bed last night fully expecting to be out on the road before 11am. But nothing went right. I popped open my Avon boxes and found many things not available. Come on, who back orders business supplies? The bottom box of my order has big grease looking spots all over the sides. Opened the box to find a bottle of skin so soft bath oil had leaked all over the inside of it. Now I have to re order the products inside of it.
I was supposed to be at my first stop by 1pm this after noon but didnt get out of the house till past then. I ran around in circles and went back and forth but got to meet some new people and customers. I wore one of my shirts that says Avon on it along with my pins. I got asked twice for brochures. I love my job. How many people get to drive around and meet new people and just yack and laugh and have a good time and can call it work?
To end my evening I got to meet some interesting people, watched another companies presentation had some really good food, and brought home some good recipes to try.
