I have read many group pages where people have talked about if they can put a brochure in or on a mail box. And I'm surprised everytime I see someone not know they can't put one anywhere touching mail boxes. Then one day I went to get my mail and hanging on the hook of my box was an Avon Brochure. After speaking with the representative she had sent someone out with brochures to pass out in her neighborhood. Then she said something I was really floored by. I told her not to put a brochure out on an Avon Lady's door.
Then tonight I was talking to someone and she was telling me that an Avon Representative she believes puts brochures in her daughters mail box. When we talked about it she was surprised that people still don't know it's a federal offence when we have know it since we were kids.
Well if we can't attach them to the mail box or put them in the mail box where do I leave them? There are many videos and blogs of how to do things like "throwing brochures", door hanging or interviewing people in the neighborhood.
Lynette Bledsoe has a great video on tossing brochures. It shows you a nice neat way of how to use the literature bag to protect your brochure. Molly's video shows you the faster way to toss brochures. Always have someone go with you as it makes it easier and much more fun. I have tried to throw brochures by myself and I couldn't get them very far up the driveway. You also have to figure that your slower by yourself and not as safe. Lastly watch the weather because you don't want to be out with your window or door open watching it rain or snow.
Door hanging gives you lots of exercise and sometimes you might get to meet your neighbors. You need to order the clear literature bags item number 058 433. You get 50 bags for .80 cents. You can either print your name on the brochures, print labels, or use a stamp with all your information. Make sure to add something like a flyer in regards to recruiting or fundraisers.
The final way we will talk about leaving brochures out at peoples house is doing a neighborhood survey. This ones great for an area that says no soliciting. You have a bag with things like brochures and flyers. You also need to take a note book with you so you know who you have talked to.
You can say something like "My my name is Jane Smith with Avon and I'm doing a survey to check and see how well the are is being represented. Is there an Avon Representative in the area? How long has it been since you have seen a brochure? Do you feel this area is being full represented?"
Most people who don't have a representative will ask for a brochure.
These are my most favorite ways to get my brochures out in the neighborhood. What are yours?
